The Department of Water Resources as the core agency for the national water resources under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment was established under the Bureaucratic Reform Act 2002 on 3 December 2002. The service delivery targets are to establish basin-based water resources management system in order to be able to supply adequate water for consumption and production ; to conserve and rehabilitate water resources and to provide surveillance and warning system for water disaster, which emphasizes on participation of all stakeholders in all sectors.
